What is Newsfeed?

Newsfeed is a forum for people who work or have an interest in improving school food in the South East of England. The forum is designed as a virtual meeting space for accessing regional and national news and updates about food in schools.

What services does it provide?

Newsfeed will give information about regional and national training opportunities and events.
It will provide summaries of recent news, campaigns, reports that relate to food in schools. These summaries will be designed to provide you with a ‘one stop shop’ to keep up to date without having to chase information yourself.
It will also serve as a space where you can feed back your training and support needs to the regional team supporting your work with school food and related issues such as wider health and wellbeing and childhood obesity etc.
Newsfeed also has the ability to host discussion groups and forums where you can share knowledge with colleagues across the region.

How do we keep up to date with new content?

I will be sending out a monthly summary of new content by email to let you know what new information I have added; this may be summaries of new national reports, an article about a regional case-study or particular topic of interest. These articles will be archived for later reference by date in the Archive folder on the right-hand menu of the site.
The home page of the forum has a calendar that will highlight upcoming training or events in the region.
The content of the forum will also change and be updated when visitors use it to post information or questions. My email will give a summary of user contributions throughout the month but if you want to keep track of updates more frequently you can sign up for RSS feed by clicking on the RSS logo that appears on the right-hand side of your internet browser address bar.

Who can use the forum?

The forum is designed to support people working to improve school food and pupil’s health:
From the school community – School Cooks, Midday Meal Supervisors, Healthy and Sustainable Schools coordinators, School Governors, Parents, Cooking groups, School Management Team etc
From the public health community - School Food Ambassadors, Healthy Schools teams, Community Nutritionists, School Nurses, FEAST groups, Sustainable Schools representatives, Regional Programme Coordinators

Anybody else with an interest in the forum!

How do I participate?

One of the aims of Newsfeed is to give people a space to meet, to share information and discuss issues.
You could use Newsfeed to inform colleagues across the region about a training programme or event you are holding in your local area or to ask for some support or information about a specific subject.
Events
Inform colleagues across the South East about an event you are holding in your local area or suggest an event you think the region should hold, (a meeting or conference about a specific issue) by emailing events@news-feed.org.uk
Training
Share your training developments with regional colleagues or raise training issues you need support/input with by emailing training@news-feed.org.uk
Discussion Forums
Contribute directly to the content of the site by either:
Adding a comment or question about a specific topic or article on the site by clicking the ‘comment’ button alongside the text.
Posting a question, request or comment in the Discussion Forums – you can add to an existing discussion or start a new topic….
